Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

Easily accessible from the center of Fukuoka, this nature-rich shrine has a long history. Well known scholar Sugawara no Michizane (845-903) is enshrined who is revered in Shinto as the god of learning. Many worshippers from all over Japan and even overseas visit the shrine to seek a divine favor to pass the school entrance exams, for peace to the household, and for greater purification.
